چکیده
OBJECTIVES To investigate the incidence and epidemiological characteristics of Kawasaki Disease (KD) in Sichuan province of China. METHODS The questionnaire and diagnostic guideline for KD provided by Japan Kawasaki Disease Research Center (JKDRC) were used for the questionnaire investigation in pediatric departments of all hospitals in Sichuan province for data of KD diagnosed in their hospitals from 1 January 1997 to 31 December 2001. RESULTS Of the 212 hospitals investigated, 91.5% responded to the questionnaire investigation, with a total of 1811 cases of KD identified. The incidence per 100,000 children <5 years of age was 4.26 in 1997, 5.21 in 1998, 8.57 in 1999, 7.70 in 2000 and 9.81 in 2001, respectively. The average incidence throughout the 5 years was 7.06 per 100 000. The ratio of male to female was 1.62 : 1. The age distribution showed a peak near 1-2 years of age. Cardiac sequelae were seen in 17.0% of the patients. Only 66.2% patients with KD had been treated with intravenous immunoglobulin. CONCLUSION The incidence of KD in Sichuan province was lower than that reported in Japan and Beijing, higher than that in Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shanxi province of China.

Background and purpose: Kawasaki is an acute childhood vasculitis of unknown cause that if left untreated can cause coronary aneurysms in 25% of cases. The disease is reported as the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children in developed countries. The purpose of this study was to investigate the epidemiological and clinical features of Kawasaki disease in northern Iran. Materials an...
متن کاملSynergistic Effect of Subtoxic-dose Cisplatin and TRAIL to Mediate Apoptosis by Down-regulating Decoy Receptor 2 and Up-regulating Caspase-8, Caspase-9 and Bax Expression on NCI-H460 and A549 Cells
Objective(s): Although tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) can selectively induce apoptosis in tumor cells, more than half of tumors including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) exhibit TRAIL-resistance. The purpose of this study was to determine whether subtoxic-dose cisplatin and TRAIL could synergistically enhance apoptosis on NSCLC cells and investigate its under...
متن کاملFewer beams and segments result in a shorter delivery time and a better quality intensity-modulated radiotherapy plan in gastric cancer
Background: This study evaluated whether IMRT using fewer beams and segments could reduce delivery time without compromising plan quality in gastric cancer adjuvant radiotherapy. Materials and Methods: Fifteen patients with advanced gastric cancer who underwent D2, R0 surgery were included in this study. IMRT plans for each patient were designed as 7 equal beams with 40 segments, 5 beams with 2...
متن کاملA Dynamic Simulation of Annular Multiphase Flow during Deep-water Horizontal Well Drilling and the Analysis of Influential Factors
A gas kick simulation model for deep-water horizontal well with diesel-based drilling fluid is presented in this paper. This model is mainly based on the mass, momentum, and energy conservation equations. The unique aspect of this model is the fluid-gas coupling and the change of mud properties after the gas influx from the formation. The simulation results show that the gas in an annulus disso...
متن کاملMolecular Epidemiology of Porcine Cytomegalovirus (PCMV) in Sichuan Province, China: 2010–2012
Porcine cytomegalovirus (PCMV) is an immunosuppressive virus that mainly inhibits the immune function of the macrophage and T-cell lymphatic systems, and has caused huge economic losses to the porcine breeding industry. Molecular epidemiological investigation of PCMV is important for prevention and treatment, and this study is the first such investigation in Sichuan Province, Southwest China. A...
